Overheard

{Animal Interpretation by Abby}
We were driving home from dinner one night when Abby was in a particularly awful "Abby mood".  She had attempted to bite someone earlier in the evening.  The bigger kids were talking about this incident and Emily said that Abby was an animal (referring to her biting).  Abby heard her say that, broke out in tears, and said in a perfectly pouty and angry voice...

"Day call me a HIPPO!"

I'm not sure that all of us have ever simultaneously laugh so hard together!

{Vocabulary by Molly & Emily}

I try to give the kids their "gummy" vitamins nightly. It's a routine we've had for a long time.  The kids know what comprises their "gummy" cocktail too.  One night, I didn't get it done and Molly came running to me saying...

"Mom!  We forgot to do our Vidamin Bees!"

I think you mean, Vitamin C's, but it's so cute that I'm not about to correct you, Molly!

Even though Emily is now 7, I still enjoy it when she shows her littleness with her cute speech and mispronunciations.  The other day, she excitedly came running into my room to show me she had found one of her American Girl doll accessories...

"Look Mom!  I found my crunches!"  {translation: crutches}

{Future Plans by Noah}
Vance and I were having a conversation that Noah overheard.  We mentioned something about a "degree", as in a college degree.  Noah questioned what it was.  We explained that Daddy and I both had a degree in business.  His response...

"I want to get a degree in Marine Biology... wait! Can I get a degree in golf?"

In a similar analysis, after spending the day at Sea World, I asked Noah if he still wanted to be a marine biologist.  His response...

"Yes.  {long pause}  Can you be a marine biologist and a professional golfer?"

Like father, like son!
